is now Complete
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
Everyone,
Since my last posting an unforseen
issue has come up. ESMRA will
not be able to make it for the
final race. Therefore, the 2006
season is complete.
I will have everything completed
for final points, trophies,
etc by this time next week.
The 2007 Season schedule will
be posted sometime this winter.
Thanks to once & all for
a great 2006 Season. Look forward
to seeing everyone next year.
Again, please forgive us.

“The Godfather”,
“The Bullet”
& “Showtime”
To
Line Up With Points Leaders
At The Queen Mary
|

|
|
| |
October
20, 2006 – Freestyler
Mike “The Godfather”
Metzger, speedway legend Billy
“The Bullet” Hamill,
and champion flattracker Johnny
“Showtime” Murphree
have added their names to the
grid for the AMA Supermoto Championship
Final, Troy Lee’s “Duel
At The Docks” Nov. 3-5
at the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
“This is what supermoto
is all about,” said Lee.
“Racers from every discipline
going bar to bar to see who’s
best. And we’re expecting
to announce a few more marquee
names before the green flag
comes out.”
Supermoto series points leaders
Jeff Ward and Doug Henry already
had their hands full with their
respective teammates Chris Fillmore
and Mark Burkhart breathing
down their necks. Now they’ll
have to also contend with skilled
riders like Metzger, Hamill
and Murphree out to show they
can just drop in and take the
checkers, too.
The innovative track layout
for “Duel At The Docks”
features an array of crowd-pleasing
obstacles, including a tunnel
(a supermoto first) just before
the transition from asphalt
to dirt, the 40-foot Honda skyshot
bridge, and the Parts Unlimited
“Urban Cross” jumps.
The weekend’s action begins
on Friday, Nov. 3rdwith practice
sessions that are open to the
public. Saturday the 4thwill
feature amateur racing in the
NASMOTO (North American Supermoto)
championship, with the AMA national
final taking place on Sunday
the 5th.
Tickets are available at www.troyleedesigns.com
and at participating Southern
California Honda motorcycle
dealers. Prices are $15/Friday,
$25/Saturday, $35/Sunday, or
$50 for the whole weekend. Kids
age 12 and under get in free
with a paid adult using a voucher
available at Honda motorcycle
dealers. A limited number of
motorcycles will be able to
park in the Queen Mary lot,
while those in autos will park
at the nearby Long Beach Convention
Center and take advantage of
a convenient stream of shuttle
buses and watercraft to and
from the racetrack. |

City Motorplex
A Little Bit of Country,
but Mostly Rock-n-Roll

NASHVILLE, TN OCTOBER 15, 2006
The NASMOTO Amateur and Pro/Am
races rounded out a great weekend
of Supermoto racing at the Sloan’s
Xtreme Cycle Jam 06. When the
amateur bikes rolled out for
their first practice Sunday
Morning, the track was still
nice and warm from the Parts
Unlimited AMA Supermoto Series
races that were run the night
before!
Held at the Music City Motorplex;
it didn’t matter if you
were a pro or an amateur, on
two or four wheels, everybody
ran the same track. The diamond
plate Urban Cross jumps were
left in place, at full height.
They provided more than enough
encouragement to fly a quad!
The dirt section stayed blue
for nearly the whole day and
the amateur speeds seemed well
suited to the dual lines. The
speed around the oval was anything
but amateur, with the big bikes
easily topping out over a ton. |

Nick
McFadden topped the Premier
Mini Class riding a Fast Forward
sponsored Honda CR85. This kid
seemed to have a sixth or maybe
even seventh gear as he flew
around the oval. Lap after lap,
Emerson Conner really put up
a great fight. He would rail
through the infield and catch
up to the leader, only to watch
him drive away on the oval.
In the end McFadden crossed
the finish line first. Brody
Shields had been helping his
Dad in the pro pits on Saturday
night, so Sunday was his turn
to race. The RTD Contractors
sponsored rider finished third
behind Conner.
The Beginner and Novice classes
were combined and as a result
it was the second largest grid
of the day! Wayne Sims won the
Beginner’s Class, finishing
ahead of second place Dave Warmker
and the rest of the combined
field. Dakota Simmons showed
up with a big #1 on his numberplate
and it turns out he was right.
He won the Novice class. |

The
Seventy Thirty Racing SM1 class
was the two-wheeled Showcase
Show Down of the day. Cycles
128 rider Jonathan Gosselin
and Three Bothers backed Brian
Barton fought each other for
the entire heat race and kept
at it right on through the main.
Barton could pull even on the
urban cross jumps and in the
infield, but the road racer
in Gosselin was always able
to leap back ahead on the asphalt
banks. At this really fast track
the road racer came out on top,
Gosselin finished ahead of Barton
and Joel Grover. The cool down
lap was crazy. I have never
seen the corner workers going
completely native over a third
place finish!
The SM2 class was combined with
the SM1 class, so it is only
fitting that the leaders would
also run together. Colter Dimick
and Chase Guthrie were blazing
fast on their Honda CRF250’s.
Both riders quickly worked their
way through the rest of the
field, with Dimick’s ACES
backed bike finished third overall
and first in the class. Guthrie’s
Bloomington Powersport bike
was the fourth one across the
finish line and took second
in the SM2 class. Following
up his win in Pennsylvania with
a third in Nashville, Nick Page
rounded out the SM2 podium. |

The
SMX Open class was dominated
by Micky Dymond. Dymond was
hanging around on Sunday and
waiting for the All Access Diamond
Plate to be loaded and took
advantage of the available track
time. He ran a few fast laps
on his big KTM, won the SMX
Open race and gave Corey Hormes
and Gosselin a rabbit to try
and chase down. Jason Baldwin
topped the SMX450 class, finishing
ahead of South African Brian
Capper and Guthrie. Guthrie
was riding a 450 this race and
proved he is fast on both a
big bike and a two fifty. |

Originally
scheduled to be part of the
Queen Mary Finale, the ATVA
Supermoto Grand Championships
were held at the Music City
Motorplex. Despite the last
minute venue change, many riders
from both ends of the country
made the race. It quickly became
an East verses West thing. Even
in the pits it was California
and Nevada on the left. Tennessee,
Kentucky, Indiana, and New York
on the right.
Niclas Granlund, Jason Anderson,
and Joe Arrowsmith were the
top three riders in the Duro
Tire Pro ATV class. Granlund
not only won Sunday’s
race, but he also became the
first AMA Sports/NASMOTO Pro
ATVA Grand Champion. He was
waving to his pit crew and celebrating
the last few laps of the race,
even though Anderson’s
Pinit Motorsports tuned Yamaha
YZF450 was right behind him.
LRD Performance racer Arrowsmith
ran with the leaders for the
entire race, but had his hands
full holding off Zac Willett
the last few laps of the race.
Earlier in the day, Willett
had gotten tangled up in the
heat race and DFL’d it.
He had to start the main in
the back row and spent the race
trying to push his Kellog’s
back Honda through the field.
Willett was still trying to
dive inside the third place
Arrowsmith when they ran under
the checkered flag. |

At
the top of the Amateur ATV podium
was William Key riding a Cycle
Addicts backed Suzuki. Key’s
win also guaranteed an AMA Sports/NASMOTO
ATVA Amateur Number One plate
to screw onto the inside of
his race trailer door! Justin
Anderson and Brandon Welp rounded
out the amateur podium in Nashville.
In the end, the Pro class was
a West Coast affair and went
Nevada, California, California,
and Kentucky. The East Coast
controlled the amateur grid,
with hardware returning to New
York, Tennessee, and Indiana. |

ATVA
Grand Championship Now To
Be Settled in Nashville
Prior to Queen Mary
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
October
4, 2006 - Originally scheduled
as part of Troy Lee's "Duel
at the Docks" AMA Supermoto
Final weekend at the Queen Mary
in Long Beach, the AMA Sports/NASMOTO
pro and amateur ATVA Supermoto
Grand Championships will now
take place two weeks earlier,
on Sunday, October 15th at the
State Fairgrounds Music City
Motorplex in Nashville, TN.
"There were some insurance
liability issues with regard
to running ATVs at the Queen
Mary," said NASMOTO VP
Ted Baker. "Although the
venue change has inconvenienced
some racers - and believe me,
we feel badly about that - we
are nonetheless fortunate to
be able to wrap up the ATV season
on an incredible track in Nashville."
The ATV final will be part of
X'treme Cycle Jam '06, a full
weekend of intense supermoto
racing at Nashville's Motorplex.
Contenders for the national
pro title include Zac Willett,
Daryl Rath, and Nick Granlund,
who has dominated the series
so far.
"We are still hoping and
expecting to have all the top
pro and amateur ATV riders show
up, despite the schedule change,"
said Baker. "But it's worth
noting that we want to make
sure we've got full grids in
both classes, so interested
riders should go to www.nasmoto.com
to pre-register via our technology
partner XBUX."
"The ATV racers have definitely
been stirring up some excitement
this season," said Joel
Grover, Director of AMA Supermoto,
who also happens to be a former
pro ATV racer himself. "Things
can get pretty wild out there
with four wheels on a supermoto
track, and the crowds love it.
We are making the best of this
last-minute venue change and
expect to have a fantastic AMA
Grand Championship."
The most recent stop in the
AMA Sports/NASMOTO series featuring
the ATVs was a successful weekend
at The Grange in Apple Valley
CA Sept. 30 - Oct. 1. The series
has been criss-crossing the
country all season with the
key help of sponsors like Duro
Tire, which has taken a leadership
role in promoting the sport.

Supermoto Season
Finale Expected
To Make A Splash At The
Queen Mary
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
 |
September
26, 2006 – This
year’s AMA pro
and NASMOTO amateur
supermoto series will
both end in spectacular
fashion on a single
weekend November 3-5
at the fabled Queen
Mary in California’s
Long Beach Harbor. Troy
Lee’s inaugural
“Duel At The Docks”
will combine a picturesque
venue with a highly
creative supermoto track
layout that promises
to provide one of the
most memorable race
weekends in motorsports
history. |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
“We are very excited
to be hosting this event,”
said Felton Hyche, VP of Special
Event Sales and Promotions
at The Queen Mary. “Never
before have we had this kind
of speed and horsepower competing
right next to the ship. Troy
and his team have an outstanding
event planned and other activities
that should prove to be great
entertainment for the entire
family.”
The weekend’s action
begins on Friday, Nov. 3rd
with pro and amateur practice
sessions and media day. Saturday
the 4th features NASMOTO (North
American Supermoto) championship
amateur racing and pro practice.
The main event is on Sunday
the 5th, as the top pointsgetters
from this season’s AMA
pro supermoto series fight
for this year’s national
titles. Jeff Ward, Doug Henry
and Chris Fillmore currently
lead the Supermoto pack, while
Team Troy Lee Designs’
Cassidy Anderson has dominated
the Supermoto Lites (250cc)
category, battling Brandon
Currie all the way. The trio
of David Baffeleuf, Ben Carlson
and reigning class champ Micky
Dymond have been running neck
and neck in the Unlimited
class standings.
The “Duel At The Docks”
track layout is designed to
showcase the trademark versatility
possessed by top supermoto
racers. Features include The
Monaco Tunnel just before
the transition from dirt to
asphalt – a first for
a supermoto track –
and a massive bridge over
a paved section of the course
that will certainly result
in plenty of crowd-pleasing
excitement.
Primary event sponsors include
American Honda, Red Bull,
MotoBrew, Oakley, Weekend
Warrior and Empresa Home Loans.
“Supermoto is on a fast
growth curve in The United
States, and we wanted to create
a first-class event for these
amazing racers,” said
“Duel at the Docks”
promoter Troy Lee, whose custom-painted
racing helmets have been worn
by hundreds of the world’s
fastest racers for over 25
years, and who is a Supermoto
team owner and racer himself.
“It’s going to
be an unbelievable race, not
unlike the original ‘ABC
Superbikers’ event at
Carlsbad Raceway that started
it all back in the day.”
Tickets will be available
October 4th at participating
Southern California Honda
motorcycle dealers, on the
web at www.TroyLeeDesigns.com,
and www.queenmary.com.
Prices are $15/Friday, $25/Saturday,
$35/Sunday, or $50 for the
3 day ticket. Kids age eight
and under can get in free
with a voucher that will be
available at local Honda dealers
with a paid adult ticket,
while supplies last. Extensive

AMA Supermoto Series
Rolls Into Fairgrounds Music
City Motorplex For Oct.
14th Motorcycle Contest
|
|

|
|

|
|
| |
|
|

FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
World’s
greatest all-around motorcycle
racers test their skills versus
each other in this new fangled
form of motorcycle racing dubbed
“Supermoto”
NASHVILLE, Tenn., (Sept. 28,
2006) – The world’s
greatest all-around motorcycle
racers will converge upon Nashville’s
Fairgrounds Music City Motorplex
next month (Oct. 14) for the
“X’treme Cycle Jam”,
Round Nine of the 2006 AMA Supermoto
Championship, presented by Parts
Unlimited and Sloan’s
Motorcycle & ATV Super Center
Supermoto, which was derived
from the legendary ABC Sports
made-for-TV race series dubbed
the “Superbikers”
back in the late 1970s, combines
three of the most common disciplines
of motorcycle racing: road racing
(pavement), motocross (dirt
with jumps) and flat track (compacted
dirt). The sport has become
so popular in Europe that the
American Motorcyclist Association
(AMA) decided to launch its
own series and has met with
great success in its first three
years of competition.
“The State of Tennessee
is a hotbed for all sorts of
competitive motorsports action
and the X’treme Cycle
Jam AMA Supermoto round at the
Fairgrounds Music City Motorplex
has been has been enthusiastically
accepted by the area motorsports
fans for the past two years,”
said Joel Grover, Director of
AMA Supermoto. “In addition,
the uniqueness of supermoto
has won over fans across the
nation – both from motorcycle
as well as auto racing enthusiast
backgrounds. Supermoto is motorcycling’s
version of auto rally racing,
only held in a venue where the
entire course is visible.
“And with four pro main
events, along with all of the
qualifying, the entertainment
return on the family dollar
investment has kept our fans
coming back.”
Leading the AMA Supermoto Championship
series thus far is former motocross
champion and Indy 500 podium
finisher Jeff Ward. “Wardy”
heads a field of racers that
includes international greats
such as ’05 AMA Supermoto
champion Jurgen Kunzel (Germany)
and Troy Herfoss (Australia),
along with homegrown U.S.A.
talent like AMA motocross legend
Doug Henry, the AMA Superbike
Championship Bostrom brothers
(Ben & Eric) and AMA flat
track great Glen “JR”
Schnabel.
“The X’treme Cycle
Jam AMA Supermoto provides motorsport
fans with an exciting day of
motorcycle racing action showcasing
all of the disciplines of the
sport - road racing, motocross
and flat track – in one
race,” said Joe Mattioli,
President of the Fairgrounds
Music City Motorplex. “We’re
encouraging fans that attend
our other great motorsports
events – NASCAR Late Models
and Super Trucks, the All American
400 and DukesFest – to
come check out the motorcycle
racing action on Saturday, Oct.
14th. It’s definitely
an event the likes of which
you’ve never seen before!”
