SKY TV needs new technology
In America a company created and built by one Howard Hughes in the late 1920s has evolved to the point of offering satellite Internet service. The company Hughesnet offers premium high speed broadband to areas inaccessible to most cable TV providers. The service which is completely cable free offers both download and upload Internet capability. At the present time in the United Kingdom SKY TV dominate certain market areas of TV channel sales. These are primarily high definition viewing of sporting events. SKY is positively leading the way in this area and even newer technologies such as 3D television. Even with such a technological advantage as satellite to Earth transmission SKY which is an excellent company has difficulty competing with landlocked companies in offering TV packages that include desired services of home phone and broadband. Whereas British Telecommunications has managed to expand their capabilities through the use of ADSL so as to provide high speed broadband and within that total broadband BT Vision channels. SKY by virtue of having to purchase an addendum landline connection finds itself at a disadvantage. SKY TV needs to literally cut the apron strings and invest in pure wireless satellite technology that would allow it to be totally independent.
